Security Notice: Prolancer impersonated in high-risk hoax messages

Total Recall VR resellers have been targeted on at least one occasion by highly convincing fake emails asking to pay Prolancer invoices to fraudulent bank accounts. The e-mail may contain scanned and modified copies of Prolancer’s Total Recall VR proforma invoices that show fraudulent bank account details for payments.

PLEASE, DO NOT transfer funds to a bank other than the ANZ Bank in Australia when paying our invoices. Always feel free to double-check the account details with us BEFORE making a transfer.

We will never ask you to make a payment to an account other than our account with the ANZ Bank in Australia.

How to detect a hoax message:

  1. The bank details do not show the details of the ANZ Bank in Australia.
  2. The e-mail addresses in the From and CC list are not from the prolancer.com.au domain.
  3. The email does not contain the DKIM signature from the prolancer.com.au e-mail server – check the e-mail headers.

As an added measure, the proforma (and other) PDF documents that we send you as of 20th of October 2017:

  1. Have a Total Recall VR watermark in the area where payment details are shown. You should not accept any PDF documents that do not have the full watermark.
  2. Are signed with the Prolancer's digital certificate issued by Entrust Datacard. You should not accept any PDF documents that are not signed by Prolancer's digital signature.

What you should do if you do not trust an email that appears to be from Prolancer:

  1. Send us a separate e-mail, or telephone us via the contact number on this website, to confirm that we sent you the e-mail. You can attach hoax message so we can inspect it and report the fraud attempt with Australian authorities and banks.
  2. Delete the fraudulent email.
  3. Report the fraud attempt with the relevant authorities in your country.
