The 9.9.0 release aims to improve all operational aspects of the TRVR application by removing a number of well known ‘annoyances’ and adding a number of features that were requested on a number of occasions by resellers and customers. In addition, it aims to deliver a number application features which make the TRVR attractive for hosted VoIP deployments.
Client applications received some attention in this release. A number of small usability improvements were made.
In summary, release 9.9.0 delivers the following:
- Separate DTMF key sequence can now be defined in the Extension Recording Policies to start and stop recording. If both key sequences are same, then the previous ‘toggle’ mode is in use.
- The DTMF key sequences which control start and stop of recording now allow the use of the ‘#’ and ‘*’ DTMF keys. As a result it is possible to define feature like key sequences for start and stop of recording. For example: ‘*78’ to start recording and ‘*79’ to stop recording.
- It is no possible to change the extension number that is associated with an Extension Recording and Event Policy. This is an improvement on the previous mode of operation where users had to delete a policy and enter a new one in order to change a policy.
- Regular expressions can now be used to specify extensions for Extension Recording and Event Policies. For example, user can define a policy for all 2000 extensions by using 2[0-9]{3} as an extension.
- The parameters of Extension Recording Policies now have more meaningful names. For example: RoD Mode is now Recording Mode.
- The RoD Client, and other client applications, can now be used on deployments where CLI and DTMF are not available on the analog telephone line. This is typical of deployments where logger patches are in use. User must define an extension for each analogue channel and disable DTMF detection in the analogue channel configuration to take advantage of this feature.
- The Remote Manager Interface is now more robust as it validates all configuration parameters before applying them to the system. This prevents rogue client applications from corrupting the system configuration.
- An issue which caused ‘looping audio’ when restarting the system from Remote Manager was resolved.
- Remote Manager can now connect to systems by using the User password. This improves security.
- DNS client was added to the system. As a result, host names can now be used in configuration such as network shares. This also prepares the system for integration with “cloud” services and applications where static IP addresses are very much undesirable.
- A problem which caused the Search screen to ‘freeze’ for about 5 minutes when a defined network share is not reachable was resolved. The search facility now detects unreachable network shares and takes appropriate action to keep the user interface working.
- An obsolete system level parameter showing the on-board archive device (CD/DVD) was removed. A new system level parameter showing the current time zone database version was added.
- A time zone database update facility is now available and users can use the application upgrade process to upgrade the time zone database on systems.
- Remote Manager now automatically detects the IP addresses that are assigned to the system and automatically changes the address used for streaming media from TRVR systems. This should eliminate most of the many support calls where users complain of a ‘Monitoring Problem’ on start-up of where audio is not heard during monitoring and playback.
- Users can now tag recordings which are in progress, i.e. recordings which appear on the Logging Screen.
- The system now supports archiving to CD-RW disks.
- The disc drive tray no longer opens and closes when archiving to DVD or BD media. Unfortunately it was not possible to achieve the same result when using CD media and the disc drive tray will open and close when archiving to CD media. Given that CD media is rapidly being replaced by DVD and DB media, this should not be an issue.
- Users can now use CD, DVD and BD media to store settings. This is an improvement on the previous mode of operation where only DVD media was supported.
- Analogue recording channels now automatically detect line polarity. This capability was lost when ring-detection was introduced during release 9.0.0.
- Remote Manager, and other client applications, is now responsive when it cannot connect to TRVRs over the network. Previously connections to TRVR systems which are unreachable over the network caused client application to become unresponsive to user interaction.
