10.5.0 is a history making release for Total Recall VR, as it is the first to add support for active recording on VoIP channels. Total Recall VR is now able to record RTP streams in active mode by receiving RTP packets on UDP ports.
In addition, 10.5.0 includes preliminary implementation of the Tait VRP protocol which is used in Tait DMR and MPT networks to record audio. At this point in time Total Recall VR is able to record audio that is sent to it in VRP packets that carry G.711 and AMBE encoded audio samples. However, playback of AMBE encoded audio is pending. It is important to note that 10.5.0 has not yet been verified for correct operation by Tait.
In addition to afore improvements, 10.5.0 includes improvements related to SIP call recording, archiving and database searching via the Remote Manager Interface. Also, it includes fixes for a number of defects that were discovered during the life of the previous release.
In summary, release 10.5.0 includes:
- Active recording of RTP streams via a single UDP port service.
- Active recording of RTP streams via a pair of UDP port services with mixing of the audio in RTP packets.
- Preliminary support for recording Tait VRP streams – Tait verification pending.
- SIP call recording now has full support for:
- The Jacques SIP scenario where multiple SIP endpoints send RTP packets to a single RTP port on a central SIP proxy.
- SIP scenarios which use the OK message to carry the SDP offer and the subsequent ACK message to carry the SDP answer – this is also known as the Anfer scenario.
- Automatic archiving was improved to archive recordings that were manually archived prior to the auto-archive sessions.
- The Remote Manager Interface now allows generic search and update of records in the system database. This enables applications to create own search engines which are not limited to the search parameters provided by the previous versions of the Remote Manager Interface.
- The memory usage and performance of the system database was improved to shorten search times and improve visibility of changes.
- The NTP configuration now contains instructions that remove the NTP mode 7 denial-of-service vulnerability (see http://www.security-database.com/detail.php?alert=VU568372 for more details of this vulnerability).
- The time zone data files were updated to version 2013i.
10. The speex transcoder has improved handling of silence and missing audio segments.
11. Stricter checks of user comments are now in place to eliminate the possibility of multi-line comments corrupting recording file headers.
12. RAID-1 option for the LinX Altus product. Systems with RAID-1 option will not be able to archive to CD discs as the BluRay drive door cannot open and close during the archive operation. Archiving to DVD and BD discs will work as usual.
13. The following defects were removed:
- A defect that resulted in the installation of corrupt library files from the ‘cdrtools’ package during system upgrade. Total Recall VR uses the ‘cdrtools’ package to create CD/DVD disc images when archiving and storing settings to CD/DVD discs. We recommend immediate upgrade to 10.5.0 for all systems that are running previous 10.x releases and are experiencing problems with archiving to CD/DVD disc.
- A defect that prevented recording to start automatically on VoIP recording channels after changes of the IP address of the LAN interface used by the VoIP packet collector.
- A defect that prevented the update of the SNMP agent configuration when changing the IP address of the LAN interface used by the SNMP agent. We recommend immediate upgrade to 10.5.0 for all systems that are using the SNMP agent as this defect has the potential to stop the recorder from starting up if it is restarted after changing the IP address of the LAN interface used by the SNMP agent.
- A defect that resulted in excess records in network archive databases when the archive operation spanned multiple network archives. The excess records showed up in searches, but users could not play the recordings as the recording files are in a different network archive to the one being searched.
- A defect that resulted in incorrect calculation of the next auto-archive time when using auto-archive period that is greater than one day.
- Some English language spelling mistakes were removed from messages shown by the Remote Manager application.
- A defect that prevented extension from showing under the local folder branch on the Player tab in Remote Manager.
